Whaingaroa/Raglan Housing Affordability Project

Last updated 17 January 2019, 10:07 am

Raglan is one of our most popular destinations and was recently named New Zealand’s most beautiful town in the Keep NZ Beautiful Annual Awards 2018.  It’s all great news, but with an increasing population this is putting pressure on house prices in our idyllic seaside resort.

With a grant from WEL Energy Trust and support from the Council, the Whaingaroa-Raglan Housing Affordability Project commissioned a Raglan Housing Study to examine housing demand and supply in Raglan and the current and projected effect on prices. The Study also recommended consideration of housing affordability options moving forward.

A household survey to obtain qualitative data has also been undertaken by the Project with the assistance of the University of Waikato.  The results from this survey are still being compiled and will be made available when completed.

The Whaingaroa-Raglan Housing Affordability Project is supported by Waikato District Council, WEL Energy Trust, the University of Waikato, and a number of Raglan organisations and businesses including the Raglan Community Board, Raglan Chamber of Commerce, Destination Management Organisation, The Raglan House, Xtreme Zero Waste, and the Whaingaroa Environment Centre.
