Roads being repaired following severe weather events

Severe weather events have caused slips and damage across the Waikato district’s road network. Our road slip repair schedule lists the roads we are planning to restore between May 2026 and June 2027.

While work is underway, you may see:

  • stop and go traffic management
  • single lane access past worksites
  • partial road closures where needed

Access and services during road works

    • Currently, no detours are required
    • School buses, rubbish collection, and emergency services will continue as normal
    • You will still be able to get to your home during the road works

These sites were identified by Council following severe weather events, including Cyclone Gabrielle and other major storms.

This programme of work focuses on restoring each site and improving road stability and drainage.

Eight contractors will work across different locations to deliver the programme efficiently.

The programme is being supported with funding from NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi, alongside Council funding.
