Congratulations to the winners of the 2024 Waikato District Libraries Matariki competition!
In celebration of Matariki (Maaori New Year), Waikato District Libraries host an annual competition where people can write a Matariki themed poem or create a picture to be printed on to a clock that reflects what Matariki means to you.
The winners of the clock categories were:
- Abby Hopcroft (16+)
- Kaiya Schaeffers (10-15)
- Natalie Jones-Brock (5-9)
The winners of the poetry category were:
- Gina Prendergast (16+)
- Ngatirangi (10-15)
- Taniela Fale (5-9)
The winner of each category received a $100 gift voucher.
For every student that entered, their school received one entry to win $300 worth of books. All entries went into the draw, with the winning school chosen randomly.
The winning schools are Huntly West
Primary and Puketaha School. They each get a $300 voucher for their schools.
