In September 2025, Waikato District Council adopted the updated Neighbourhood Park Reserve Management Plan.
Neighbourhood parks are passive spaces primarily used by local communities for casual recreation, play, relaxation, community activity, links to other areas, or quiet open space. They often include walkways and a playground. Council has 57 such parks which have been categorised as neighbourhood park.
