Got old tyres lying around taking up space? Here's your chance to dispose of them responsibly and help the environment at the same time! 

Our tyre drop-off events are a council-led initiative, aimed at promoting environmental sustainability by encouraging the responsible disposal and recycling of used tyres. 

These event provides an opportunity for ratepayers to contribute to preventing environmental pollution and supporting the council’s efforts to foster a cleaner and healthier community.

Registration is essential

These events have limited capacity so be sure to register.

The location will be shared upon registrations, drive-up's will not be allowed.

  • Do you have any unwanted tyres hanging around at your place?

    We have partnered with Waikato-based tyre-recycling company, Treadlite New Zealand, to hold this event while promoting environmental sustainability by encouraging responsible disposal and recycling of used tyres. 

    • A maximum of 10 tyres per customer can be accepted.
    • Tyres need to be clean and their rims must be removed.
    • Commercial and tractor tyres cannot be accepted. 
    • A gold coin koha to Te Kowhai School

    The tyre collection event will be held at Te Kowhai School, 605 Horotiu Road, 9am to 2pm on Saturday, 6 July.

    We’ve teamed up with Treadlite New Zealand, a Waikato-based tyre-recycling company, to bring you a convenient tyre drop-off event that supports sustainability and keeps our community clean.  

    Passenger car tyres, light truck tyres, and SUV tyres can be brought along for recycling or proper disposal, commercial and tractor tyres cannot be accepted, with a maximum of 10 tyres per customer. Please ensure that the tyres brought along have been cleaned and had their rims removed.
