If you register a Food Control Plan or National Programmes you will receive regular inspections from our Environmental Health Officers or an appointed private verifier.
The inspections check that your business is following your Food Control Plan or National Programme and that it’s appropriate for your business. The verifier does this by reviewing records, talking to management and staff, and visually assessing business activities.
Food Control Plan Verification
If you are the operator of a new food business an Environmental Health Officer will carry out an initial verification within six weeks of registration. Existing food businesses transitioning to a template Food Control Plan must be verified within 12 months.
The ongoing verification frequency is determined from the outcome of verification undertaken in accordance with requirements of the Food Regulations. The default frequency is 12 months. The frequency can be more or less often depending on the verification outcome.
National Programmes
If you are the operator of a new food business your appointed verifier must carry out an initial verification within six weeks of registration. Existing food businesses transitioning to a National Programme must be verified:
- In the case of a National Programme Levels 1 and 2, within 12 months.
- In the case of a National Programme Level 3, within 6 months.
