Interested in arts and culture projects? We’re looking for three community representatives for Council’s Creative Communities Scheme.
The community representatives will help prioritise and allocate funding for arts and culture projects in the Waikato district.
Members will need to be able to serve for three years, from 2023 to 2025. The first meeting to allocate funding will be held on 20 April 2023.
“We’re looking for people who have a passion of arts and culture,” says Council’s Community Led Funding Advisor, Dominique Thurlow.
The Creative Communities Scheme is a fund aimed at supporting art activities that celebrate the uniqueness of the Waikato district, its cultural traditions and diversity, including Toi Māori. ‘Arts’ is broadly defined to mean all forms of creative and interpretative expression.
“Our goal is to increase participation from the local community in the arts sector and encourage young people to participate in local arts.
“The main role of the community representatives is to consider applications and allocate funding to groups in our district. You will need to have a broad knowledge of arts and cultural activities in your local area and across the district.
“This is a great opportunity to know more about the creative sector of our district, to help art activities thrive, to give back to the local art community and celebrate the diversity that art brings to our communities.”
