In accordance with the Tenth Schedule of the Local Government Act 1974, notice is hereby given that, for the purpose of the construction of the Waikato Expressway, Waikato District Council will close the road listed below to ordinary vehicular traffic:
Road closures: Tamahere Drive to Pickering Road
Date of closures: 6 to 23 March 2015
Road closures: Pickering Road to Pencarrow Road
Date of closures: 23 March to end May 2015
Following a State Highway 1 traffic switch onto the new Waikato Expressway, the old State Highway 1 stretch of road between Tamahere Drive and Pickering Road will be temporarily closed until 23 March. Access to State Highway 1 will be available via Pencarrow Road and the Tamahere Interchange during this time.
Tamahere Drive to Pickering Road will then reopen under traffic management while Pickering Road to Pencarrow Road becomes temporarily closed for approximately 1 month. Access to State Highway 1 will be available via the Tamahere Interchange. Completion of reconstruction works is anticipated for end of May 2015.
From 6 March onwards access to and from State Highway 1 to Duncan Road will be restricted to left turn in and left turn out only.
Emergency Services and local residents will be notified at each stage of the closures.
