Upgrades to the Ngaaruawaahia War Memorial Hall reach completion

With the aim of raising the level of service and creating a top-quality facility for the community, improvements to the Ngaaruawaahia War Memorial Hall have been completed.

Waikato District Council’s Project Manager Trevor Ranga says the project team worked together to prioritise the improvements that needed to be made.

“Through our prioritisation framework, we’ve successfully installed a cost-effective heating and cooling system, new LED lighting in key areas, accessibility toilets, fire systems and emergency lighting.

“We worked hard to complete all the improvements within the specified budget and timeframe to give the community the best facilities possible.”

Considering the practicality of the hall, improvements were additionally made with functionality in mind.

“We wanted to make the hall as easy to use as possible, so we refreshed the kitchen layout, created dedicated storage for hall chairs, and installed hot water in the kitchen and toilet.”

Other improvements include replacing the asbestos switch board, installing 3-phase main power to run the heating and cooling system, and adding non-slip flooring at the entranceway.

“A lot of love was put into the project to get the best outcome for the community with a small budget, so we hope the new look and feel will make the hall a place that residents love to come to.”
