A great way to learn something fun and new, with Waikato District Libraries

Interested in learning a new skill or finding a new hobby? Waikato District Libraries have a range of kits for people to borrow, so that they can explore and play.

“We wanted to remove barriers that stop people from learning a new skill or finding something they are really passionate about,” says Customer Delivery Manager, Brian Cathro.

There’s something for everyone – from musical instruments and DIY to coding and science.

“It means that people can try something out, without having to buy the material or gear themselves.

“After seeing how successful the kit collections were in Hamilton, we wanted to offer the same opportunity to our communities.”

At the moment our kit collection includes Ngaa Kupu Ako (the learning words), Junior Music, Guitar, Bongo, Ukulele, Tool, Microscope, Botley the Coding Robot and Dash Coding Robot but we will continue to add to our collection.

The kits cost $2 to hire for one week. Each site has different kits available, so check with your local library to see which ones they have.

You’ll find more information, including details about each kit, on our website: https://www.waikatodistrict.govt.nz/kit-collection.
