Water restrictions lifted in most of the Waikato

Water restrictions have today been lifted in most parts of the Waikato district.

Waipa recently lifted their water restrictions and Hamilton, Tauwhare, Gordonton and Matangi residents remain at Water Alert Level 2.

Although it was a hot, dry summer, Waikato residents effectively managed their water usage which meant the district only moved to Water Alert Level 1.

Waikato District Council Waters Manager Karl Pavlovich is pleased to see water alerts lifted in the Waikato district.

"We thank our communities for their effort over the summer. It’s good to see that the community appreciates that water is a precious resource and are being responsible with water, especially in summer."

Smart Water has an e-newsletter to let you know when your alert level changes, it also has smart water tips and ideas to help you save water. Sign up to receive it at smartwater.org.nz/subscribe

The Smart Water Starts with You! sub-regional summer campaign aims to make long-term change to how we use water and is a joint venture between Hamilton City Council, Waikato District Council and Waipa District Council.
