Council appoints Belgravia Leisure to connect community with leisure

Huntly 0065

New Zealand leisure management specialists, Belgravia Leisure NZ, have been appointed by Waikato District Council to operate its aquatic facilities located in Huntly, Tuakau and Ngaruawahia.

Belgravia Leisure will introduce a number of benefits to the three centres over a five-year term, including increasing opening hours at all sites with the hope to further increase the community leisure and wellness participation across the Waikato district.

The new offerings include new fitness equipment, $5 baby swimming lessons at Genesis Energy Huntly Aquatic Centre and $9 learn-to-swim lessons at both Genesis Energy Huntly Aquatic Centre and Tuakau.

As part of its efforts to connect New Zealand communities with leisure activities, Belgravia Leisure looks forward to working closely with Waikato District Council to strengthen the community and ensure locals have access to exceptional facilities.

Belgravia Leisure will commence operations on 1 August, 2016.

General Manager of Belgravia Leisure New Zealand, Mark Blake, says:

“We are thrilled to partner with the Waikato District Council to help deliver the goals of the community and further promote water safety across the district. All three areas have great potential,” Mr Blake says.

Belgravia Leisure is rolling out a number of improvements to make it easier for locals to benefit from the facilities, including a recently announced increase in hours at the indoor Huntly facility. The pool will be open for an extra 30 hours per week in winter, with the facility opening at 6am (currently opening at noon) on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Waikato District Council General Manager Service Delivery, Tim Harty says:

“We are very pleased to announce this appointment and are confident Belgravia Leisure has the expertise to see these three leisure centres thrive as key parts of our communities. Council, together with Belgravia, will continue to strive for a high level of service for the public and will work together to deliver exceptional aquatic facilities to our community.”

Please note: As per usual, the Genesis Energy Huntly Aquatic Centre will be closed for the month of July for maintenance work to be completed.
