Road reconstruction work to begin on Hakanoa Street, Huntly

Waikato District Council is about to begin reconstruction of a section of Hakanoa Street in Huntly from early next week.

Between now and the end of May a part of Hakanoa Street, between Bell Crossing Road and Taihua Street, will be removed and reconstructed as part of Council’s scheduled programme of road works.  The work also involves renewing some kerb, channels and driveways.

According to Tim Harty, General Manager Service Delivery, renewing the kerb and channel supports better management of water run-off from the road and the road’s surface.

“While there will be some inconvenience to road users while we do the work, the result will be a safer road surface for users, less future maintenance requirement and ultimately less cost to ratepayers,” he said.

The work starts in the week commencing 18 April and, weather permitting, is expected to be completed at the end of May.  There will be one-way vehicle access and traffic management in place throughout the construction period.  An alternate route is also available via Taihua Road, Wight Street and Park Avenue.
