Council continues to advise no swimming in Raglan Harbour

Waikato District Council continues to advise the public not to swim, fish or collect seafood within the Raglan Harbour until further notice following the sewerage overflow last Friday evening.

It is estimated that approximately 10 cubic metres of wastewater entered Raglan Harbour at the time of high tide following the event.

Waikato District Council General Manager Service Delivery Tim Harty says Council staff continue to sample the water on a daily basis and to work with Waikato District Health Board and Waikato Regional Council to determine when the advisory notice on the harbour can be removed.

He says, “It can take around five days to receive test results from the sampling, so it is possible signs may be removed by the weekend.”
