Huntly War Memorial Hall open day

Huntly Memorial Community Hall

An open day to get public input on the proposed rehabilitation of Huntly’s War Memorial Hall site has been scheduled for April 2 between 10am and 2pm at the Huntly Bowling Club.

Council is seeking public input on the proposed rehabilitation of the site, which includes links to the cenotaph and relocation of the mural and the honour roll.

“Councillors at February’s Infrastructure Committee also approved an independent peer review be undertaken of the cost to repair and refurbish the hall. This is currently underway and will be ready in time to discuss at the open day.

Information from this peer review will be available at the open day. We want you to provide Council with honest and informed feedback,” Acting General Manager Service Delivery Martin Mould says.

The Committee also deferred any further action on the future of the hall until the independent peer review and the open day has been held.

A number of councillors, stakeholders and Council staff will be in attendance to answer any questions the public may have.

“Council is looking forward to hearing from the Huntly community on how they would like to see the space used in the future and discussing community facility needs.

“We want to hear your ideas on alternative use of this space, the more imaginative the better so please come along.

“We want Huntly to have a vibrant future and something that will benefit everybody. How can we link the past to the future and how might these important pieces of Huntly’s past be preserved? Please come along and share your ideas with us. We want input from the entire community,” Mr Mould says.
