Waikato District Council is on the search for a development partner to help create a “modern village” in Tamahere.
Property agency, Greenstone Group, is asking for expressions of interest from qualified property groups to work exclusively with Council on creating a “vibrant village with specialty food, services, retail and offices and a central piazza”.
Situated on the corner site of the newly developed Wiremu Tamihana Drive and Devine Road, the development is being promoted as a central community hub and the destination of choice for the greater area.
In the April-May edition of Council's Link newsletter, Ward Councillor Wally Hayes indicated his excitement about the project which will enhance Tamahere’s popularity as the lifestyle of choice.
“Because of its location and attractive country living lifestyle, Tamahere is one of the highest growth areas within Waikato district. The closure of Newell Road on to the busy Airport Road, and the construction of a new link road (Wiremu Tamihana Drive) have opened up exciting opportunities that enable the creation of a modern village.
“Council has already invested in significant infrastructure for this area with the intention of supporting significant growth over the next 10 years.”
